Getting Started with Science Notebooks
A two-to-three hour session designed to introduce participants to the practice of notebooking. Includes specific strategies for immediate classroom use. Most effective as an in-person, hands-on workshop, but virtual options are also possible.
Student-Centered Science Notebooks in Your Classroom
A one-hour presentation designed to introduce participants to the practice of notebooking. Similar to Getting Started with Science Notebooks, but more of an overview.
What Do Scientists Do? Making the Nature of Science Come Alive With Picture Books
A one-hour interactive session designed to introduce participants to the lives and work of historical and contemporary scientists, why telling these stories is an important strategy for helping students understand the nature of science, and how they might use these books in their classrooms. The session draws from my Scientists and Their Practices series with NSTA Kids.
Building Tomorrow's Scientists, One Book at a Time
A 45-minute to an hour interactive session focused on my reasons and goals for writing for children.
Building Student Identities in Science
A 30-40 minute talk. Ideal for large groups or keynote addresses.

The Power of a Question
A 45-minute interactive session drawing from Wild Wonderings: Scientists and Their Questions. Students "meet" several scientists who dared to ask wild questions and practice asking their own questions, too! Best for 3rd grade and up, but can be modified for younger students.
