New Book! Science Notebooks in Student-Centered Classrooms
Updated 3/21/22: Congratulations to Janelle Holland! She won a copy of Science Notebooks in Student-Centered Classrooms! Winner has been contacted by email.
I'm thrilled to share that my latest book, Science Notebooks in Student-Centered Classrooms, is finally available from the NSTA Bookstore!
10 years in the making and four years in the actual writing and revising, this labor of love gives you a glimpse into my elementary science classroom and my students' actual science notebooks. You'll learn my philosophy on effective notebooking practices, how I structure my classroom and introduce science notebooks to maximize their effectiveness, and tips and tricks for assessment and sharing work with families that I've developed, borrowed, and refined over time. Of course, all of this is placed in the context of three-dimensional, high-quality science instruction, and several introductory chapters provide the necessary overview and research context.
Additionally, I combed through a mountain notebooks from students past and present, to share as many student work samples as possible. Special thanks to my friends and colleagues Nichole Bondi and Ben Simon for photographing so many pages!
I'm proud of this work and hopeful that it will make a true difference in elementary science classrooms everywhere.
You can order Science Notebooks in Student-Centered Classrooms in print, ebook, or a bundle from the NSTA Bookstore.
